How To Make Animations!

If you’re wondering how to make animations, then you came to the right place!  I’ve been an animator since 1998 in such hit movies as:

  • Iron Giant
  • Harry Potter & The Sorcerers Stone
  • Stuart Little 1 & 2
  • Warner Bros. Osmosis Jones
  • Scooby Doo 1
  • Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
  • Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
  • Disney’s Meet The Robinsons
  • & more!

If you watch the video above I’ll give you an overview of how to make animations as part of my animation tutorials series.

Making an animation is very time consuming.  On average, it takes an animator 1 solid week of work to produce 4 seconds of polished animation.  Of course, the more you do it the faster you get.  For some current 30 second commercials I just directed I was able to animate 30 seconds of polished animation in about 14 hours total.  Again, it takes a lot of time to get to that point and I am highly ‘in the zone’ when doing it.  I have to focus 100% on the scene to make sure it is what I see in my head.

If you want to be an animator, you need to be very patient!

Animations come in many different types.  There is 3D, or CG (computer graphics) Animation, Stop-Motion, Clay (which is like Stop-Motion), Cut-Out, Hand-Drawn (or 2D), and more.  If you have a camera, and you can move an object, then you can animate it!

Here is a video series I created to show you how to make animations:
